Teeth whitening is the fastest, easiest, and most affordable way to reverse teeth stains and yellowing. In this treatment, a peroxide like carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide is applied to the teeth. Then, these volatile chemicals destroy the bonds that hold the stains in place, “bleaching” the enamel and restoring its natural, bright white appearance.
With teeth whitening, you can boost your confidence, look younger, and feel better about your smile. Contact Dogwood Family Dental now to schedule an appointment, and see if teeth whitening from Dr. Taylor Enochs Engler is right for you.
First, you’ll consult with Dr. Taylor. She’ll assess your oral health and help you determine if take-home teeth whitening is right for you. She can also explore other cosmetic dentistry options like veneers and bonding.
If you’re approved, Dr. Taylor will take impressions and molds of your teeth. These will be used to create a set of custom-fitted, reusable plastic whitening trays.
It usually takes a few weeks for our dental lab to build your trays. Once they’re done, you’ll come back to Dogwood Family Dental to pick them up. Dr. Taylor will also give you a set of professional-grade whitening products, as well as instructions to follow while whitening your teeth at home.
Most patients whiten their teeth for about an hour a day for 2-3 weeks. Your treatment could vary depending on the extent of staining and the level of brightness you desire. By the end of your treatment, your teeth will be bright, shiny, and beautiful once again.
Dr. Taylor will clean your teeth, then protect your gums, cheeks, tongue, and other oral tissues to ensure they’re not affected by the whitener.
Once your mouth has been prepared, Dr. Taylor will apply the whitening compound to your teeth, and activate it using UV light. This excites the peroxide particles, improving their effectiveness.
You will rinse out your mouth, then repeat this process. Most patients can whiten their smile up to 5-10 shades in one appointment. Multiple appointments may be needed for particularly extensive staining.
